Tunbridge Wells WILL have its first residential 20mph zone!
We are very pleased to say that, through our
20's Plenty for Tunbridge Wells campaign working with
residents and Borough and County councillors,
Tunbridge Wells will be getting its first large 20mph zone
covering most of the St. John's residential area.

During September, Kent County Council (KCC)
conducted a public consultation on the
proposed 20mph zone put forward by KCC Councillor
Peter Oakford. 20's Plenty for Tunbridge Wells
campaigners went into full swing; delivering flyers
informing the residents of St. John's about the proposal
and encouraging them to respond positively to the
consultation. It must have worked as 94.3% of the more
than 300 responses supported the proposal.
Thank you
20's Plenty for Tunbridge Wells would like to thank Cllr. Peter Oakford for funding and backing the scheme, former TWBC Councillor David Scott for his ongoing support and campaign advice and the other Borough and County councillors for their cross-party support. But most of all, we would like to thank the residents of St. John's for responding in support of the proposal!
So, job done? Far from it. The demand from residents of other areas of Tunbridge Wells to live on a 20mph street has been overwhelming. However, 20's Plenty for Tunbridge Wells can't make this zone the first of many across the borough without your support. Please:
2. Contact us to find out how we can help your
campaign for 20mph in your area of Tunbridge
Wells
3. Contact your borough and county councillors
asking for their support
We don't want St. John's to be the only 20mph zone in the Borough, we want the Borough to be 20mph where you live, work, shop, play and learn.
